Gothenburg is a beautiful city at the west-coast of Sweden. The city has many things to offer, like different attractions, culture, good food, and beautiful parks and gardens. Additionally, Gothenburg has a rich nightlife. It is also easy to get to Gotherburg, because of the airport located just outside the city.

LISEBERG

One of the main attractions in Gothenburg is Liseberg. This is an amusement park, which is one of the most visited amusement parks in Scandinavia. The park has many roller-coasters and other rides. Additionally, during Halloween the park gets filled with various house of horrors and other Halloween-themed attractions. Every year with christmas, you can also visit a typical Swedish christmas market, where you can taste the traditional Swedish cuisine.

CULTURE

If you are interested in culture, Gothenburg has a lot to offer. There are several museums and exhibitions to find in the city, like The Maritime Museum and Aquarium or the Göteborg Natural History Museum. Gothenburg also hosts many major concerts in the Ullevi Arena. And did you know that the city is the home of the largest film festival of Scandinavia?

FOOD

If you are visiting Gothenburg, you should definitely try some seafood. Because of Gothenburg’s perfect location on the Swedish coastline, you can get fresh and short-travelled seafood. There are several seafood restaurants to choose from all over the city. Additionally, Feskekôrka (The fish church) is an indoor fish market where you can buy fresh seafood of the day When you are in Sweden, you should definitely try fika. Fika means that you take a break with a coffe and some pastries. A good place for this is in the neighbourhood of Haga. Haga is filled with cafés that offer fika.

PARKS

Gothenburg has a lot of beautiful parks and gardens. Gothenburg Botanical Garden is one of the largest botanical gardens of Europe, with more than 16,000 different plants. If you want a park where you can relax, go for a walk, or do some outdoor activities, Slottsskogen is the place to go. This park offers many activites, and you can find cute cafés to grab a bite or drink.

how to get there?

There is an airport, Landvetter, which is located south of the city. You can fly to this airport from several European destinations. To get into the city, you can take a shuttle bus from the airport. The drive to Gothenburg from the airport is around 25-30 minutes. It is also possible to get to Gothenburg by train from the Scandinavian cities Oslo, Copenhagen and Stockholm.

tips

1. Buy a three-day ticket for the public transport. This card gives you free access to all trams, buses and boats. You can buy your ticket at every 7-Eleven kiosk or at the Tourist Office.

2. Visit the hip neighbourhood, Haga. Haga is a very charming place, with many cafés and shops. Additionally, the houses are built in a typical Swedish style, combining bricks and wood
